Effektive Project Management is something I started due to having spent the last 30 years working on projects that have not been run using many, and often not any, project management best practices. Most projects begin with a full suite of project management systems in place, to be followed by a complete abandonment of the systems as the project proceeds.
It is my intention to provide some clarity to the techniques of Project Management through these blog posts as well as in-person workshops that will be focused on specific knowledge areas such as communication, planning, execution, and closing areas.

In addition to my 30 years of experience I also a certified PMI Project Management Professional and a PRINCE2 Practitioner. I also have an MSP Foundation certificate. It is through this training that I have recognized the initial employment of project management systems right from the textbook followed and then abandoned. It is my belief that this happens because as managers become certified, PMP or P2P for example, it becomes the end of learning rather than the beginning. My own journey involved 30 years of experience prior to seeking certifications and once I had them I realized that even with my experience, or rather because of it, I still had a good deal of learning to do. I had the practical knowledge and was certified, but it was very easy to continue managing projects the same way I always had. The result would be that the same issues that come up on every project would continue to reappear.
